Illuminandi - Demo II/Concert
I believe that what I received was a promo version of what has now become their album called "The Beginning."
This album review was a real departure for me. I have admit right up front that this is not the kind of music I generally listen to, so perhaps the things I will say about it, should be taken with only a grain of salt.
The primary impression that this album made on me is that I like the music, in fact, I really like the music, but by and large I don't care much for the vocals. Most of time, I tend to feel this would have been a better album if they had just left out the lead vocals.
My description of the style were dealing with would be some kind of mix between goth, prog and classical music. I can not say enough about how good the music is on this album. The strings are a wonderful touch and the playing is at times down right masterful. Let me also say that there are some places where the vocals do not bother me as much, especially on track seven where we get a female vocal. That one is a big improvement.
I'm sure there are others who would enjoy this album much more than I did, but if this had been an instrumental album, I'd be a huge fan.
